Hi Tommy, I use an iron and a damp cloth to remove the old ivories tops and fronts. I take off the difference in thickness, of the old ivory and the replacement, with a drum sander, on my Shopsmith, I used to use a drum sander on my radial arm saw. I believe a router in a jig, would be even better, but I never got around to making the jig. Hoping this helps. Regards, John M.
