A "normal" tuning, meaning a piano that is tuned on a regular basis, is
basically on pitch, and has good rendering, etc., takes about 30 - 40
minutes. Some of the pianos I tune at the university I can do in less time,
but then they get tuned once a week. When I run across a piano where I have
to do a pitch raise, it takes about 10 minutes to crank all the strings up to
make the piano basically at 440. I then tune that piano, but because of the
pitch raise, it does take me a little extra time to get the piano to
stabilize. This takes me about 45 - 60 minutes. So a pitch raise and tuning
takes about 55 - 70 minutes.
Does that explain it?
