Having removed hundreds, I simply lift it out with no = complications, usually straight up on uprights and slightly forward but = mostly straight up on grands. I cannot visualize your situation as being = "miserable". By the way, for those interested, the gizmo that operates the slow close = is called a rotary damper, per Yamaha.
