Tommy, Assuming no other changes, the contact point of the knuckle and repetition lever will be lower, as will the contact point of the capstan and wippen heel cushion. Think of it as the larger knuckle forcing the wippen down. When the action is activated, the least sliding friction between the knuckle and the repetition lever occurs when the contact point crosses a line drawn between the shank pin and the wippen support pin. With a bigger knuckle, this contact point is forced farther below that line, increasing the amount the knuckle slides, and therefore the sliding friction. A similar effect occurs at the capstan, sometimes for better but usually for worse. Bob Davis
