Hi Alan,

I see a very dramatic and positive difference with the bottom cover on
grands (and I see better response from upgrights with a back cover too). I
will not sell a grand unit without the bottom cover.

Since you tuned and then installed the DC definitely the "sour" sound most
likely due to the change in humidity. I have seen a damppchaser cause the
pitch at A4 to rise 17 cents in less than 24 hours--and that was in the
days *before* bottom covers. This may work in your favor since the store
likely did not prep the instrument.

Prep the piano because the store didn't. Have the pianist or other musician
there and tune a unison and then tap the coil (pick one that is sloppy).
This will make them believers. Charge your full tuning rate for this extra
time. Jon Page recently posted an excellent email on the process he
uses--search the archives and find it.
