Friends,

I just got the following from someone in Vermont (according to email
address). Was I too blunt?
BTW, 1960 was apparently the last year that Aeolian used the name "Mehlin".

xxxxx,

I am not personally experienced with the Mehlin of that era (1960), but the
now defunct parent company is famous in the trade for cranking out a lot of
inexpensive pianos with a variety of names on the front.

I would suggest that you hire a local member of the Piano Technicians Guild
to check the instrument for suitability. As in automobiles, there can be a
_very_ wide variation in the condition of 40+ year old pianos. Would you
buy a 1960 Rambler without having a mechanic check it out first?
