These vary tremendously based on the local economy, what other area =
tradespersons charge (i.e., what the customer will pay), the skill, =
experience, salesmanship, reputation, and confidence (guts) of the =
tuner/tech. It's actually kind of a "verbotenen" subject to discuss in =
the way you asked ... can smack of collusion, price fixing, etc. Best to =
call tuners in your area, also appliance repair people, etc. That will =
give you a start.

As a beginner, you will not likely be charging an hourly rate for =
tuning, just a fixed rate. There are labor time guides available from =
PTG, Joe Garrett, Randy Potter, etc., that are very helpful in =
estimating jobs. But no one sets your tuning or shop rates except you =
and your local market.

I am not sure if this is an appropriate question or not. But as an =
aspiring tuner (although it will be sometime until I need to know this =
I'm sure), in light of the service call posts, would someone give me an =
idea of what current charges are? What is a going rate for a tuning? =
Service call, or minor regulation. I am just curious. Thanks.
  Tom
