Here's how I've done it in the last few tunings I've done (I'm still a new tuner taking the Potter Course) Strip the entire piano (bringing strips over/under the plate struts - I can usually mute most pianos with only 2 strips this way) Set the temperament (F3 to F4) to a KORG CA-30 Chromatic tuner (use aural checks as I go along to make sure nothing's out of whack, usually I DO have to fix something or 2 or 3...) (mostly checking 5ths and 4ths to make sure nothing's wild) (now.. I forget if I do to the bass or to the treble first... I'll say bass for this...) tune octaves down to the bass starting with E3/E4 down to A0/A1 tune octaves to the treble remove the high treble strip to either the last damper or plate strut tune starting with C8, unisons, using rubber mutes then when getting to strip, tune right string, remove strip, insert mute on right string, tune left... and so on to the bichords, then just remove strip and tune, one note at a time play the piano and make sure nothing got missed (I often find I need to correct something - usually a bad octave somewhere but often a 5th or 4th) In reply to..... <<SNIP - Reply patterns can get too long after a while... :)>> -- Stephen Airy stephenairy@fastmail.fm -- http://fastmail.fm - Does exactly what it says on the tin
