DO NOT weld on a piano plate! The success rate is not good because of the way that cast iron expands when it gets hot, particularly when it is connected on all sides such as on a strut, (an excellent class was done on this by a metallurgist at the Reno convention). I highly recommend the Lock N' Stitch pins. This works in most cases, and after filling and painting it will look completely normal. It is a truly amazing system. This topic has been covered several times so look up Lock N' Stitch in the archives.
