Gee Don, I thought it was easy enough to figure this one out. They are well marked on the right side what they are. But ok. The first graph has the Inharmoncity curves for the Fundementals, and partials 2,3,4,5,6,8. for all notes C3 to C5. And you are correct in observing that there are seven individual curves. The second graph, as stated in the little box on the right, combines the 8th and 4th, the 6th and 3rd, the 4th and 2nd, and the 2nd and 1st so as to show the beat rates of said octave types... ie 8:4, 6:3, 4:2, and 2:1. And once again you are correct in noteing there are only 4 curves. Think about it, I am sure you will see it at second glance. Cheers RicB btw... the colours were generated by excel automatically..... presumably to be able to easily see each curve without mixing them up. Probably not much other significance to them. :) Another side note.... Both Dr. Coleman and Dean Reyburn have seen these and recognized them for what they are immediately. In fact there is a very similiar graph (to the beat rates graph) in RCT's partial preview. I think that shows just a few more relationships, but is quite similar in overall tendencies. > > > Regards, > Don Rose, B.Mus., A.M.U.S., A.MUS., R.M.T., R.P.T. > > mailto:pianotuna@accesscomm.ca > > http://us.geocities.com/drpt1948/ > > 3004 Grant Rd. > REGINA, SK > S4S 5G7 > 306-352-3620 or 1-888-29t-uner -- Richard Brekne RPT, N.P.T.F.
