|it might be good for my image for the students | who don't know the situation, thinking that I might be able to | play something like that! Yeah, right! :-) Reminds me of the time I installed a Pianocorder, (remember them?) in a Kawai console in my workshop which was in an area behind the garage under an apartment building. One day a I ran into an resident who exclaimed, " You play the piano very well, I have never heard such good rag time even on records." I replied, "You have good taste, you have heard the best". He looked me like I had suddenly gone on a supreme ego trip. I then explained he was hearing player piano renditions as recorded by Scott Joplin, James P Johnson and George Gershwin. ---ric ----- Original Message ----- From: Avery Todd <avery@ev1.net> To: <pianotech@ptg.org> Sent: Wednesday, November 28, 2001 8:58 PM Subject: The Last Week . To make a long story short, when it was delivered, | we discovered that a 'D' won't fit into our freight elevator. | So, panic time, trying to find another room for him to | practice in. Guess what I came up with? My shop! At least | he pretty much has 24 hr. access to it with no other conflicts. | | So, when I've had to come in, I've been able to listen a little | to the concerto. His wife, Pat, was thanking me yesterday for | letting him use the shop and I told her it was no problem at | all and besides, it might be good for my image for the students | who don't know the situation, thinking that I might be able to | play something like that! Yeah, right! :-) She cracked up. | | | Regards, | Avery
