Try slipping a length of key bushing cloth under the felt and seeing how that effects the sound. If it helps the use thinner back rail cloth with a double width of bushing cloth to bring the level up to what it was. One other source of noise is the knuckle. You can raise the nap to silence that noise, for one session. ALso instruct them to move their microphones further away from the sound source and put up some isolation barriers around the piano when they need to. Look at the later thread on milking pianos.
