Was glue residue left in the mortices as well as on the bushing cloth? In other
words, did the Protek affect the glue, or was the glue just not stuck to the
wood in the first place? 

If the wood is clean, was it wood contaminated by some field applied lubricant
that didn't allow the glue to stick? Was the glue in question a craft type hot
melt glue, or something a little more sophisticated? Is the contractor that
installed the bushings a specialist in key work, or a local rebuilder?

Finally, what did you use to glue in the replacement replacements, and are they
still sticking?
