Very likely the wedge is original and the flex of the plate will close the gap very quickly. I suggest taping or gluing it in place when you start stringing because if you get a bit of tension on the plate it will have moved in to the point where you cannot get it in. You can make another wedge, if that makes you comfortable, but it is really not that critical. THere is some flex in cast iron as there is in glass. The purpose is to transfer stress from the plate into the strut structure below the board. So, are you going to use the "old" block? :) Newton
