treatment for arthritis/hand pain

I have heard that if you take niacin regularly you won't get arthritis.
Don't recall where I heard this.  Some time ago I had pain in my wrists
so bad that I couldn't sleep at night.  I started taking niacin and it
soon disappeared.  Niacinamide will do the same thing, and won't cause
flushing as niacin will.
I now use wrist splints that keep my wrists rigid.   They work well.
