I have a similar anecdote about a Chiropractor curing a hearing problem. I
never had a hearing loss, tinitis or over sensitivity but for a few years in
a row, I had this intermittent "crackling" sound in my left ear when sound
levels were high or when I would sing and sometimes even when speaking. My
hearing was tested and found normal and no MD had a diagnosis or treatment.

I developed a terrible tendinitis in my right arm (which was also made worse
by the MD's treatment) and finally sought treatment from a Chiropractor.
When he adjusted my neck, I felt an opening up sensation in the ear and the
bothersome "crackling" noises never returned again. The Chiropractor
remarked that this is the way his profession got started: with a hearing
problem being corrected by spinal manipulation.

I don't know what to say or offer the originator of this thread but I use
ordinary drug store ear plugs when tuning and whenever sound levels are high
or bothersome and always when sleeping. While I enjoy music of all types, I
also enjoy and appreciate total quiet. I can hear very soft sounds and would
like to continue to hear them as long as I live. I do not like loud, dance
club type music simply because it is loud and desensitizes the ear to the
more important and pleasurable things there are to listen to.
