1/7 strikepoint

In regard to american pianos with 1/7 strikepoint, the 36" 
Baldwin Acrosonic is one which uses that ratio on the no.1 
bass string. The length is 39" and the strikepoint is 
approx. 5.5". I suspect that this was done to give at 
least some additional length to the tail which is already 
too short. On this piano the plate already sticks out 
through the bottom board.
