HA! Ah, yes, the GRAND console. One of the few that can make a beat-up =
1970 Aeolian spinet shine. No, no, it is nothing like that at all. It =
looks like a smallish regular square grand to the untrained eye. Very =
nice cases with hi quality veneers. The strings ARE horizontal. But, it =
looks like someone just laid a spinet plate into a square grand.

This piano is fundamentally different from a square grand. The square =
grand has the hammers along the back side of the piano. The keys run the =
full width of the piano (from the front where you press the key all the =
way to the rear of the piano where they active a somewhat primitive =
action (single escapement). The Spinet Grand, whereas it looks much like =
a square grand - from outward appearances only - is actually much like a =
regular modern grand piano except that it is REAL short, and the bass =
hammers scoot down along the left side of the case - the tenor and =
treble hammers are along the front of the piano, much like a modern =
grand. The action is a slightly modified modern double repetition =
action. Truely a buzzzzaaarr piano. Blew me away the first time I saw =
one.=20

And that's all I got to say 'bout that! Fire away with any more =
questions!

I'm not interested in buying, but I would like a description of this =
one. Is it anything like the "'Grand' Console" (that was actually a =
spinet) that I tuned a few weeks ago? Probably not, I hope. <g>

Anyone interested in a Mathushek Spinet Grand? I am awaiting further =
details
from the owner, but I saw it the other day in the local paper. It =
appears to
be in decent original condition. Just thought I would post this =
because you
don't see too many of these - kind of an odd duck.
