Hi list, I have been using a Hale hammer, which i fitted with a wooden ball, for more than a year now, and I would NEVER go back to a regular type handle..never. It makes my work so much easier and takes a significant amount of stress off my hand and fingers, without sacrificing any control. One thing I did do in addition to fitting and gluing the ball on the handle, (with epoxy) was to drill a hole directly through the center of the ball, and into the hammer handle. i then counter-sank a long wood screw into the ball and into the handle, to make it as secure as possible. I then used ordinary wood dough to cover the hole, let it dry then sanded and sealed the ball with clear lacquer. Without the screw, the ball is likely to come loose at some point.
