Another step backwards. Yes, soundboards do have resonances -- they must; they have mass and elasticity, etc. But it would be much better if they did not. Soundboard resonances are voicing problems. They usually get blamed on the poor hammer, but their source is the soundboard. The idea is to diminish individual resonances as much as possible. I smile (sadly) when I see the video clips of some worker carefully tapping each board before selecting it of use in a particular soundboard. The obvious implication to the consumer is that they are carefully selecting the wood to make the soundboard more 'resonant.' Argh! Del
