Tim, Drop is only part of your aftertouch problem. Yamaha has a great
regulation checklist for both grands and verticals . Tech services can help
you get one. As for general causes for insufficient aftertouch look for
excessive blow distance and or shallow key dip. As for drop adjustment , if
the drop screw is too high it will interfere with lettoff. The general rule
taught to me is that letoff@1/16 '' than drop another 1/16'' below that in
tenor /treble , and increasing to 1/8''lettoff and 1/8'' drop as you
progress to the low bass . If the lettoff is too close in the bass you will
get blocking hammers on repetitive blows. Again the yamaha tech team can get
you going in the correct direction. Tom Driscoll
