Dale: Shoot mist coats; you don't need a lot of lacquer to get whatever effect you want. Also, rubbing it out is tricky; you don't want to rub off the edges. But at least two mist coats do the trick, you don't get sag that way. The hardest part for us is setting the set of sharps up in our little window box fixture where we do spraying; we don't do much finishing here in the shop, the major finishing is done by our guy in another part of the building complex here. We used to be partners in the same shop with a finisher, big spray booth and all; didn't work out on a lot of counts; it's a seriously dirty business--fumes, dust, etc. We do as little spraying as possible, and only with cans as necessary.
