When you get a box of flats the inside cut of a pair is the best cut there is. If you put the inside cut to the outside you will get better looking dampers. When I cut wedges I put a pen mark on one side of the back so that I can always put the marked side toward the wire. Makes seating easier. Always keep the same side to the outside.
