Terry, That reminds me of a replacement bass string that I found in an old upright way back in the sticks in cow land. The bass string was a bichord with no winding taken off the hitch end so that the winding was below the bridge pin and winding taken off the tuning pin end so that the hammer struck the string six inches above the winding on the coer. What a sound, impossible to tune.
