Jack, you're a sucker for punishment, like me. Just talked to a guy here in the area that only works on pianos earlier than about 1860. Vellum is basically parchment. Try old book stores and look for old legal documents etc. Another suggestion he had was to go find bongo (as in drum) heads that usually are sheep or goat skin. Comes in various thickness or you may have to skive it. Parchment lasts thousands of years, so you can give a lifetime warranty. If its bent repeatedly all bets are off, though.
