Tight centers, etc.

Ulrika,
It has been my experience that Nickle plated pins seem to cause two
problems. 1. In normal conditions, the nickle tends to "iron" the bushing
cloth so smooth that there is no friction whatsoever. This make pianisimo
playing impossible. 2. for what ever reason, in adverse conditions the
nickle tends to bind in the bushing cloth, causing extremely sluggish action
centers. I'm not sure it is the nickle or if there is something in the
bushing felt that interacts with the nickle, but this does occur. And,
sometimes without warning or explanation.
This has been my experience with Nickle Plated Pins. FWIW.
Regards,
Joe Garrett
