Hi Don,
I took the American School of Piano Tuning Course, back in 1975.
I was almost tempted, not to admit it. It was not until, I
joined PTG and attended a few Conventions, both Regional and
National that I felt that I was doing my job properly.
The only good thing that the ASPT did was to get me into a field,
which I love. I did have the help of an old piano tuner, and my
daughter's piano teacher to help me, complete the course.
The course is inadequate.
I would highly recommend the Randy Potter Course, of which I
have heard nothing but good.
I have written all the Guild exams, passing all but the aural portion
of the tuning exam, due to my dependence on my SATlll.
Be sure that you can tune aurally, before the purchase of an ETD,
unless you intend to use it to verify your aural skills.
Get the Randy Potter Course, and join the Guild.
Regards,
John M. Ross
