I relayed part of this to John Ross but I thought I share my thoughts:

My "FUN" day yesterday. Concert Tuning. Not something I often do, there are
those who prefer it.
At one of the local casinos there was an afternoon jazz concert, the regular
tuner for yesterday was away, so I was called. I got there early 8am, just
in case - they were expecting me at 11am. I did a quick tuning. then the
pianist showed up and wanted to practice, and he practiced etc, then the
band came, set up and played and jammed. I got 5 mins in touch up then more
practice and 20 mins before showtime which music blasting - I was allowed to
tune, I gave it 10 mins and gave up - was I wrong?
