Yes, Jim. The action contains the exact spring which you describe. It is from a Baldwin (B (?) I think) about 5'7" or so and about 50 yrs old. The spring is kinda flimsy - it runs from the screw right into the typical Baldwin jack with that little loop. The action seems to play and repeat OK after the regulation. ..Just more weird piano folklore I guess... Matt Wynne, NY
