I don't know about 'better,' but it sure is faster --

Try drilling it one time with a slow-helix, parabolic-flute bit (of an
appropriate diameter) sharpened properly for use in wood (that is, somewhere
between 60º and 90º instead of the more typical 118º) running at
approximately 1800 to 2400 rpm.

Works for me.
