Hi Phil,
Tapping the coils again will probably make matters worse not
better.Since initially it will have the effect of de stabilizing the piano.
If the coils are tight leave them be.
2 months is a long time for such a harsh environment, and heavy work load.
Bi weekly would be more like it with a fussy pianist, getting the owner to
go along with it, is another story.
Tuning is a matter of degrees. For a piano concerto with orchestra. it is
common practice for the instrument to be tuned for each performance and
each rehearsal, so 3 or 4 times for one gig.
Compliment his hearing and playing, and try to educate him.
Using the sostenudo pedal with strong, quick, double hits, can help to
really set, the pins, and string rendering.
Since it is a new R, the risk of breaking strings is acceptably low.
Whilst the string is in motion, the second blow will move the string in a
manner that a normal heavy blow will will not.
Allow an extra 3/4hr for the tuning. You will be suprised how much you will
move things around.
I know it sounds off the wall, but try it.
