I have used MarineTex epoxy for filling gaps. It has a very high 
compression strength.
Use West System's epoxy to treat the bottom of the crack and let it wick 
into the
lower recesses. After that is setup, trowel MarineTex in, let harden and 
trim top flush.
Mark pin holes and drill .003 smaller than the pin. Renotch/bevel edge 
after holes are
drilled. Install pins.

Recapping is best but this would also be a solid repair.
