At the PA convention last weekend Paul Monachino gave a class on damper making, the felt part that is. He also mentioned having quantities of books not exactly on design, but the manufacturing directions (he had a better word for it) for the Mason and Hamlin pianos. Also for Chickerings, I think. He also has inherited from other masters a fine collection of the old tools. An interesting class if you like the history of things. Mr. Monachino is a wealth of living history.
