I just epoxied a couple of 4x4 timbers (about 4" apart) across several ceiling joists in my shop, put a 1/4" thick steel plate on top of 'em, drilled a hole in the center of the plate, bolted a hook to the bottom of it, and hung a 1.5-ton chain fall from it. Works great. I keep the piano case on a support with wheels so I can manuever it under the plate. I have 8' ceilings in my shop so I shortened the smaller chain so that it does not hit the plate. I can lift the plate from the floor to a height of approximately 5' above the floor without any chains hitting the plate. No sweat, works great, easy to install, cheap.
