I've tried many variations of tools for this job, including the Hart
version, but have had the best success with one I received from Don Mannino
of Kawai during a convention class long ago.

With just a little practice it does what none of the others ever seemed to
do for me consistantly.  It goes in and gets the spring without having to
waste time searching for it, and returns it to the groove without the
hunting process that can occur.
