In raising to pitch the 50's and 60's spinets and consoles I guess at turning the pin, (after a few samples) moving the hammer with both hands, not even playing the key. Haven't broken a string yet. I always thought someone would invent a "dial-a-matic" do-hickey to go on a tuning hammer to tell a little more exactly exactly how far the hammer has been turned. Since the hammer takes a diff position on each pin it would have to be adjusted each time. Unless there is a pendulum against a scale....... hmmmm...... ---ric ----- Original Message ----- From: Charly Tuner <charly_tuner@hotmail.com> To: <pianotech@ptg.org> Sent: Sunday, June 18, 2000 7:41 PM Subject: P.Raise Technique... > Hi all, > > Many of you probably do this, but I've been experimenting and found that I > can usually accomplish a full PR WITHOUT having to reinsert the strip mute. > For each note (middle string) I pull up, I simply approximate the same > amount of pin turn for the outside strings with the strip mute still in! > I've been surprised at my accuracy.
