Bending rims... sideline from Re: Plate Bushings

Brian, et al,

I have an old Hallet, Davis & Co. grand with a sectional bent inner rim
"cap" - 4 1/8" laminations starting just above the plate, embedding it,
going to the top of the case. There are let-in gaps for the hitch pins
at the ends of the tenor and bass sections. The laminations are Walnut;
in fact, the bentside is Walnut as well (it has a square tail),
amazingly sawn to shape from a single piece. The framing appears to be
Spruce, I don't know if it is capped with harder material.
