What we charge?

Guys,
Govenor Mark White (remember him?) proposed and implemented our current
sales tax package in 1982. Hasn't been seen in politics much since. Also,
Tom you may want to check on the info about estimates. I was told by the
comptroller's office that evaluations, etc were taxable, so we charge it on
everything. They say it beats income tax but since we are incorporated we
pay a franchise tax which seems to amount to an income tax on business.
That's why all our books go to the tax professional whose mandate from us
is: we pay what we owe, no more, no less.
Best,
Dale

Hi Tom,

It was earlier than 1986. I didn't move to Houston until 1983 and a
friend of mine in
San Angelo who worked for the comptroller's office made sure I knew about
the fact
that I now needed to charge sales tax! Don't you love friends like that?
:-) Also, it's
8.25 %, at least here in Houston!
