Flagellence might be a good word for this as you suggest.  Flatulence might
be even better.

Now about those hefty estimated income taxes every quarter.  I still hear a
self-employed person or farmer complain from time to time that they can't
buy this or that right now (usually referring to piano tuning) because
estimated taxes are due and they are really tight financially.  I find it
much easier to put the correct percentage for taxes into my savings account
every payday.  When the taxes are due, just withdraw it and pay them.  Isn't
it short-sighted to do it any other way?
