In response to Kam544: I worked as a voicer in the Baldwin factory (when it was still in Conway) for 12 years so if anyone ever has a question, please feel free to ask. Yes, there is a difference in the lacquer and keytop treatments. You can make a hammer softener with a mixture of methanol and water, 1-1. I have also done this with gas line antifreeze (from auto zone) and water. Apply directly to strike point and be really careful as it reduces brightness about 25%.
