Inre the use of ETD's, Anita Sullivan writes, in the New York Times,

>have not been tuned for a long time. "Or if you can't hear well because
>there's lots of noise, or if you're working in a shop and want to do a
>bunch of pianos and get them in the ballpark."

     Or tune a concert grand for a recording duet with Yo Yo Ma, or to tune a 
piano that will be used to sell 100 million records.  Yea, those ol' machines 
are just useful , all around. (:)}}
