Phil, I've noticed much of the same behavior with my new SAT III, although it's not bad in the high treble. I've left the thumbswitch on my tuning hammer, and on large pitch raises I usually shut off the auto note-switcher and plug in the cord to step up manually. It seems that with higher quality pianos and their resulting tone, the SAT is able to a better job switching notes. Dan Dannenfelser Sacramento, CA
