Hi Phil, I have been using the SATlll, for over a year now. Periodically I do run into a piano, that has trouble causing the stepping facility to work. I feel it is the piano, not having a clear (wrong word) enough sound, as it works for the majority of pianos. On the bass, I sometimes find it will jump to another note, not the one I am tuning. So I keep a close watch when doing the bass. I feel it is more to do with the quality and condition of the piano, rather than the SAT.
