Marcel Carey gave me a very good idea few years ago.  You put the switch on 
your left hand index finger (if you're right-handed) and trigger with the 
thumb.  That lets your tuning hammer free from any dangling cord.

It cost me around $4.00 (CND)to make one - about 25¢ US... :-)
