Ron, It may not be necessary to remove the spoons as the spoon hole is usually drilled all the way through the whip. Thua would allow you to simply drive the spoons in deeper. There are as many ways to do this as there are inventive folks. A method I have used successfully involves clamping a small vise-grip onto the spoon near the top ( just under the flare of the spoon itself ) and then using a pair of pliers to squeeze on the vise-grip and bottom of the whip together thus driving the spoon deeper. With judicious care this opreation can be performed without removing whips, although removal of the damper levers is almost always helpful. Rod Pierce
