Dave - I have only seen two Wheelock pianos. Both were turn of the century Very Victorian uprights. These were mediocre pianos musically, although both had been neglected for years. Outstanding cases, though. In fact, one was a refinish job. After stripping it, a light sanding completely eliminated the "grain" in the area I was sanding and left only white poplar where there was previously a very convincing mahogany.
