Kind of like getting one side of a thick glass cold and the other side
hot.  Not sure I like that so much.  Stress on one side and no stress
on the other.  Not sure I like that so much either.

Take a board and seal one side with poly finish and see how stable it
would be with changes in humidity.  Not sure I like that so much.
