I looked at a "3/4" size piano today, the best built one I've ever seen. =
The case was painted and the name covered but "LEM" could be seen. I'm =
not sure about the "L", but the EM was legible.Serial #426195. Action, =
Pratt-Read; 68 note scale starting on F and ending on C; 12 single =
string bass notes; 14 wound bass bicords; then plain wire tricords from =
the break to the top note; 2 pedals; laminated (I think) maple sound =
board; no ribs; cantilevered bass bridge; both bridges notched on both =
sides; standard size keys; probably a mahogany veneered case. It looked =
like the manufacturer cut 8 notes off the bottom and an octave off the =
top of their spinet piano plate pattern and built this 3/4 size =
instrument. The proportions of the case are very well laid out in an =
Arts and Crafts period design. The original bench was gone, but a =
suitable bench was in front of it. When I sat at the piano, I was =
reminded of the furniture one would find in a kindergarten room. It is =
tunable and the action shows very little wear. All in all a fun =
experience.
The owners want to know all they can about it, and what it might be =
worth. So, I hope their is someone who may be able to identify it and =
give some value.

Thanks.

Paul Chick
