A few years ago, a piano technician friend of mine was tearing down an old
piano. When he removed the plate and exposed the pinblock, he found pencil
drawings of a horse and buggy. Several of us have seen these drawings, as
he has saved this pinblock. We have concluded that this was the work of a
child laborer fantasizing about how someday he would have a set of "wheels",
just like young boys today fantasize about their first car! Whereas today a
factory worker on his lunch break might look over a parking lot full of
cars, this young person was probably looking out onto the street during his
lunch break. Talk about windows in time!
