In 1840 patent number 8643 plate number "9" he describes his patent for the 
front bat pin with a Key Bushing, a simple thing, now standard on all 
pianos today. Great for taking out wear on the key Bushing, its little 
thing like this, that the Erards was so good at. Not only did they want to 
improve the sound and flexibility of the action and piano, they tried to 
make the tuners life easier.
